Massage and Spa TreatmentsWe have made arrangements with several local providers for massages and other spa treatments to be performed at the cabin. Nothing beats a sports massage after a long day on the water. Or while you fish let the non fishing spouse enjoy a facial and a deep tissue message. Email to arrange.
Other places to fly fish near the Farm
While many consider the Farm to be the pinnacle of piedmont fly fishing there are a number local streams in close proximity to the Farm that provided excellent native brook trout fishing, stream bred brown trout fishing and even Shad and Smallmouth Bass. Many of our guests enjoy fishing the farm one day and then spend a day or even two more fishing local jewels such as the Rapidan or White Oak Canyon. A short drive (about an hour) can have you fishing the Shad run on the Rappahannock or stream bred browns on Mossy Creek. A Summer float trip for Smallies on the James or the Shenandoah can also be arranged (these rivers are also only about an hour away).

Shad Fishing
Shad fishing is a very exciting annual event that takes place each spring for about 6 weeks each spring from mid March until early May. The Rappahannock in Fredericksburg offers some of the best wade fishing for Shad available anywhere. An annual ritual for myself and a group of my fly fishing friends is to fish the Farm one day and the Shad the next. Guiding is available or you can give it a try on your own. Shad, both Hickory and American, readily take the fly and these 1 to 5 pound "miniature Tarpon" give quite a fight. 25 or even 50 fish days are not unheard of during the peak run.

Smallmouth Bass
Another great fly fishing opportunity within an hour of the Farm is Smallmouth Bass on the fly. Float trips on such rivers as the James can be arranged as can self guided or float fishing on the North Fork and South Fork of the Shenandoah. We have great guides on call and will make all the arrangements for our guests to fish these outstanding fisheries. Smallies can be a real treat on the fly and if you have not tried them you are really missing out. Lefty Kreh is fond of calling even large trout "trash fish" when he is fishing Bronze Backs!

In Madison there is a Food Lion Grocery store located on 29 just north of the town of Madison-- 10 min.
In Culpeper there is a Safeway, a Walmart, and a very large new grocery called Martins. There is also a 4 screen Regal movie theater. All are on the main 29 business route through Culpeper.
